Both companies, and their respective products, are excellent! Top shelf! Golden's customer service far surpasses Liquitex from my experience...Liquitex didn't even come close....

Tracing over any kind of picture or even one's own drawing can help in improving drawing skills.

Excellent video. I tried Gamvar this morning, and it is so easy to use. I was surprised it takes so little varnish. I really like resin, but it is a lot of work! I have an older painting that needs freshening up. Do you think I could use Gamvar gloss over it if I cleaned toe canvas? Thanks!

thank you, finally I found what I was looking for. i use oil and acrylic mediums on the same canvas but didn’t know which product to use to seal it. as for ruining brushes with liquitex, that all Ive ever used and have just ruined 1 brush which was my fault for forgetting to wash it out. thanks again for the Gambling Gamvar tip. ordering that asap.

Its easy to trace it straight from the laptop screen rather than drawing three times 😫

I wash brushes under warm water with Dawn soap... never had a brush ruined from Liquitex. You have to clean them as soon as you're done. 🤔

I think I really love golden acrylics cause one of my favorite colors are cobalt blue hue, purple red and hansa yellow medium cause I actually love the blending on the colors 🤩

Hi Saena, I have tried all the methods before except for the last one, wet paper towels and wax paper. I used that one last week and was amazed how long and how well my paints stayed moist. Yes, i used a take out container with a lid to keep my paints moist overnight, even over 2 nights. Just ideal. The other methods didn't work as well for me. Thank you so much.

You could try to use a silicone catalyst wedge to apply the liquitex gloss varnish bevause as the wedge is made of silicone the varnish SHOULD peel off the silicone once dry if there's any excess or you can wrap the brush up in cling film then store it in an air tight zip lick bag in between uses

I have a 30x40 inch oil painting I need to varnish. I'm considering Gamvar gloss and wanted to ask if a 16oz bottle will cover with one coat. My painting is on a gesso coated stretched canvas.

I have a light panel by porta trace.is their any way of transferring an image useing canvas or canvas paper,it seems to only work with very thin paper,which of course you cannot paint on

I started out using Liquitex but was frustrated with color mixing. I switched to Golden heavy body acrylics due to the recommendation of a friend who is a professional artist and could not be happier. The small difference in price is not a benefit if you can't the results that you want from a particular product.

Heavier pigment load usually works better economically, despite higher price. I like a combination of painting methods, so tinting strength matters when thinning with a lot of water, or when adding texture / moulding/ impasto medium. I include glazing medium though, in very watery mixtures, because I read that the binding ability of the paint suffers with a lot of water

I never use a permanent varnish as my final varnish! I tend to go with a gloss/ high gloss UV spray varnish for the first couple coats as a permanent isolation coat , then I just do one coat of Gamvar as my final varnish. I avoid ruining brushes and I dont have to worry about brush strokes. I can also remove the Gamvar if necessary.

I just bought Yellows (Lemon or counterparts that are similarly opaque) from Mont Marte, Pebeo (Studio), Amsterdam (Standard), Liquitex (basics), and Golden (HB). When it comes to pigment load, price per mL, and body, Mont Marte's Dimension Acrylic > Lemon Yellow wins for me. It outperformed everything except for Golden heavy-bodied acrylics and Liquitex HB. Dimension acrylics from Mont Marte retains their shape and therefore, preserve your brush strokes. It is worth a try. The only downside is that it's too glossy.

I wonder if there is a way to combine acrylic paint with my oil pastel paintings ...off to michaels i guess 😂

Does the gamvar varnish need an isolation coat before applying?

After varnishing 8 paintings with Gamvar, ( acrylic and oil) all of them became uneven with dull and shiny patches. Had to remove the varnish with Gamsol spirit. Unfortunately, that changed some paintings. Varnished again. Same horrible result. So disappointed!
